#BHHInterview with Savia

The #BHHSummit draws closer and closer everyday! Today, Barcelona Health Hub meets another of the companies that are attending the event: Savia, MAPFRE‘s digital health platform. In this short interview with BHH, Pedro Díaz Yuste, CEO of Savia, talks about the company he heads up and what you can expect from them at the #BHHSummit on October 26th.

Can you please tell us about your company?

Health 4.0 has ushered in a new environment, and the evolution toward a more digital-first approach to health has changed the rules of the game. In this context, the user is in control of their health, the same as in other digital realms, where it’s essential to leverage the huge potential of data to personalize the user experience. Savia is all about immediacy, availability, prevention and control of one’s personal health through person-centered care plans. MAPFRE aims to lead the market as it pivots to this new arena and created Savia to realize that ambition: a flexible and dynamic digital health services platform that looks to accompany users in the management of their own health and that of their families.

Why did you decide to join #BHHSummit about Solving Real Challenges in Healthcare?

There are certain events that we feel we shouldn’t miss out on, and this international BHH meeting is definitely one of them. We’ve already had the pleasure of participating this year at 4YFN, the startup platform within the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. And so this forum allows us to continue moving forward with the healthcare ecosystem to explore related trends at a time when taking care of yourself is emerging as one of people’s greatest concerns in a post-pandemic scenario. Investment challenges, telemedicine, patient-oriented innovation and advances in better provision of mental health care are just some of the things that deserve our attention. We welcome the chance to share our vision on international trends in the field of digital health with other players and the BHH is the perfect place to do that.

How does your company solve these real challenges in healthcare?

Savia is an innovative customer and data-centric solution that responds to real consumer needs by leveraging technology to the max. In a process of innovation and continuous improvement, Savia uses state-of-the-art technology that connects users with the very best medical practitioners in the market. All of our users enjoy the peace of mind that is a hallmark of the MAPFRE brand, and naturally, everything we do is fully compliant with the current regulatory framework.

We’ve built a digital health services platform on top of a truly singular purpose: let the user take control of their own health. How can do this? By basing all our developments on five key points: adopting a test & learn philosophy, using cutting-edge technology: making sure it’s APIed to the max, scalable and mobile, integrations with healthtech startups, data as the backbone of the business, and a killer user experience at the center of everything, if you’ll pardon the pun!

What solutions do you propose?

A digital health solution for a user looking to take control of their health, where they can chat or have a video consultation with a doctor, receive a prescription directly to their app, share their medical history with the professional or book tests or medical consultations, all without small print or locking people into years-long contractsb.

The digital health solution at enterprise level seeks to respond to the primary concern that most companies have: the health and well-being of their employees. Savia makes this a reality through the provision of all manner of services revolving around emotional and nutritional health, telemedicine, prevention and protection. So Savia helps companies to offer a 24/7 service to their employees, with their well-being front and center. Our solution also provides greater agility when it comes to preventing possible illnesses, which can contribute significantly to reducing workplace absenteeism, which impacts directly on productivity and a company’s bottom line.

How does Digital Health factor into your solutions?

Our experience speaks for itself: we’re nearly four years in the Spanish market and we’ve got more than 420,000 registered users, more than 100,000 paying customers and more than 5 million visits in the last year. Behind these achievements there’s a lot of hard work from a highly specialized team that we put at everyone’s disposal to offer a comprehensive and truly unique digital health solution.

What are you excited about at the #BHHSummit?

More than anything, we’re excited about having the opportunity to share strategies with other industry players on how to bring all the benefits that digital health offers to everyone. And this desire to add value to the broader conversation ties in perfectly with MAPFRE’s most important objective: we care about what matters to people. We protect the things they value most, and that starts with their health.

I also think it’s important to talk about the need to digitalize the healthcare sector. The main challenge we face with this is cultural, both on the part of the patient and on the part of the doctor. From the patient’s perspective, we know from our digital health study in Spain that 69% of users have used a digital health service in the last year and 79% say they will do so in the next 12 months, so we know that we’re already in the process of digitalization and cultural change. As for the medical professionals, at Savia, we’re supporting their transformation process and cultural change as a digitizing agent of the European Union’s support for the Spanish government’s Kit Digital program. Through these grants, any medical professional can receive up to 6,000 euros in subsidies that will help them access Savia’s entire catalog of remote consultation services: video calls, chats, agenda management and online payments, medical records and digital prescriptions, among other things, which can both improve the relationship and attract new digital-first patients.

It’s really important for us to accompany medical professionals in this process, which we believe is key to improving the relationship with our patients and helping us reach the younger generation. We want to give everyone the chance to take advantage of our four years of experience in the Spanish digital health market, safe in the knowledge that they’ll be taken care of by a company that’s part of a large and trusted insurance group like MAPFRE.
